Porte Parole creates and produces documentary theatre that shines a light on contemporary Canadian realities and encourages critical reflection on the major issues facing our society. For 25 years, we have created spaces for dialogue between artists, citizens and decision-makers, fostering active participation in democratic life.

This position offers a unique opportunity to gain diverse experience within a committed team, playing a hands-on role in implementing communications strategies, supporting fundraising campaigns, and developing relationships with our partners, donors and audiences.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the General Manager and Artistic Director, the Communications Manager contributes to the visibility and profile of Porte Parole, its mission, productions and activities among its various audiences.
The person in this position is responsible for implementing the organization’s communications activities. They oversee external communications, manage the organization’s various digital platforms and create content, while also contributing to the development and promotion of the organization’s projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic
- Support the implementation of the strategic plan’s objectives within communications and marketing;
- Develop and implement Porte Parole’s communications, marketing, and social media strategies in alignment with organizational objectives;
- Develop strategies to increase the visibility, reach, and engagement of Porte Parole, its productions, and activities among its various audiences;
- Identify and develop partnerships with media outlets, organizations, and other stakeholders to increase Porte Parole’s visibility and reach;
- Monitor emerging trends and practices in communications, cultural marketing, and digital media, and recommend relevant adjustments to the organization’s strategies;
- Ensure that communications and marketing practices align with Porte Parole’s environmental responsibility plan and promote these principles among external suppliers and contractors.
Operational
- Ensure a strong and consistent brand identity across all of the organization’s communications and activities;
- Plan, create, write, edit, and distribute content in French and English, including website content, social media, newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials;
- Develop and maintain the website to ensure its relevance, accessibility, quality, and regular updating;
- Coordinate the creation and production of graphic, photographic, and video content required for the organization’s activities;
- Coordinate media and press relations, either internally or in collaboration with a specialized agency;
- Develop and maintain media relations tools, including press kits and media contact lists;
- Coordinate the promotion of Porte Parole’s productions and activities in collaboration with agents, presenters, and other partners, or directly when Porte Parole is not represented by an agent;
- Oversee promotional materials and production archives, ensuring that required materials are available and up to date;
- Prepare and facilitate communications committee meetings;
- Supervise communications staff, interns, and volunteers as needed;
- Draft and review grant applications and other institutional documents, as required.
Fundraising and Organizational Support
- Collaborate with the philanthropy team to meet communications, graphic design, and content creation needs related to funding applications, fundraising campaigns, and donor communications;
- Ensure that visibility and recognition agreements with donors, sponsors, and funding partners are properly reflected in relevant communications and promotional materials;
- Ensure the confidentiality and proper management of information and documents related to the position;
- Participate in various organizational projects and initiatives as needed;
- Perform other related duties as requested by management.

- Strong interest in communications, the arts, theatre, documentary theatre and social issues;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
- Creativity, initiative and strong attention to detail;
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with different teams and stakeholders;
- Excellent interpersonal and service-oriented skills;
- Interest in emerging trends in digital communications, cultural marketing and fundraising;
- Strong information-management skills and respect for confidentiality;
- Sensitivity to Porte Parole’s values and its mission of fostering dialogue and civic engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education in communications, marketing, cultural management or a related field;
- Three to five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Excellent written and spoken French and English;
- Good knowledge of social media platforms and digital content creation tools;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
- Good knowledge of Canva;
- Experience with WordPress, HubSpot or Asana is an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Start date: September or October 2026
Status: Permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours per week)
Location: Plateau-Mont-Royal, Montreal, hybrid work environment
Salary: $55,000–$60,000
