Happy 2025.

Earlier this month the World Economic Forum published its annual report about geopolitics, ranking the top ten global risks in order of severity for the 2-year term and the 10-year term.  It will come as no surprise to anyone that ‘misinformation & disinformation’ and ‘societal polarization’ are cited, respectively, as #1 and #4 for the two-year period.

At Porte Parole we have been addressing these risks pro-actively since the Company was founded in 2000.  By doing deep research with an open mind about the most relevant and complex social issues of our times, and by encouraging people to leave the isolation of their screens to witness our documentary stories in public spaces, we have created experiences that build social trust.  Most recently, our series of Assembly plays, produced around the world since 2018, have addressed the destructive phenomenon of toxic polarization on communities in North America, Europe and South America.

At the beginning of this new year when the world feels so turbulent and divided, and when we may be tempted to turn inward and protect ourselves from political headwinds emanating from south of the border, I invite my cherished Porte Parole community to dig in and join us as we build upon values that reinforce our civic spaces:  openness to different opinions, frank dialogue about tough issues, and creative collaboration between people from different walks of life.
