The second week of Sexy béton Part I was covered with considerable interest by the media, especially with the third anniversary of the collapse of the Concorde overpass, September 30, having been marked by a special commemorative performance of our play.
The Montreal Gazette turned its attention to the sense of grievance among the families affected by the tragedy, mentioning in an an article that appeared the morning of our special commemorative performance of Sexy béton.
Yvan-Côté from Radio-Canada covered the entirety of the commemorative performance, filming the play itself, and afterwards interviewing Michel Gagnon, president of Québec’s Association professionnelle des ingénieurs, as well as the bereaved and injured families, and Annabel Soutar, playwright. You can watch the report broadcast October 1. Click on “Regardez l’intégrale” under October 1, 2009, and select the third part of the video, where coverage of Sexy béton and the Concorde collapse begins at the 50-second mark.
Montreal’s arts magazine Voir gave its positive verdict on the play as did MonThéâtre.ca , Courrier Laval, and Rover Arts where Anna Fuerstenberg writes, “This is my favourite Porte Parole work, partly because Annabel Soutar is finally getting into her stride as a playwright…”
The radio also proved receptive to Porte Parole’s latest work. Sexy béton was covered by Désautels on SRC, 98.5 FM and CBC Homerun.
Considering the great response to week 1 of Sexy béton in Le Devoir and other media, Porte Parole is excited for Sexy béton II: Justice, coming November 24. We hope you are too.
